Nightlife in Chiang Mai

The Nightlife in Chiang Mai draws many domestic and international tourists. Chiang Mai is popular throughout the world as the world of colors and variety. The Nightlife in Chiang Mai is more quieter than Bangkok though with the same amount of enjoyment. People of Chiang Mai like to mingle with foreigners and join the entertainment party. The town abounds in relaxing bars, a couple of banging discos, one street full of go-go bars and a good number of Karaoke lounges. Thailand is also very liberal to gay and lesbians.

Chiang Mai has a good Pub culture. It is quite easy to hop from Pub to Pub as crossing the city center on foot takes around 20 minutes. There are live music in many bars in Chiang Mai with live repertoires including lovely Thai ballades, MOR, soul, blues and pop favorites. The Nightlife in Chiang Mai in Thailand is quite restricted after midnight due to the current directive from the Governors.

The Bars can be found throughout the city but mainly clustered on either side of the Moat's eastern flank (in the Tapee Gate area) along the Ping River or near the famous Night Bazaar. The Night Bazaar is the place of activity in Chiang Mai with much late shopping and eating. One can enjoy some quick eating at the adjacent Galore Center along with free display of Thai cultural dancing and music. Some more cluster of bars, coffee houses and restaurants can be found at the intersection of Chang Klan and Loi Kroh road. Down the Chan Klan road, heading North is a small arcade, called 'Peak Climbing Wall' where there are several informal bars, some of which provide 'company'.

Nightlife in Chiang Mai definitely includes the go-go bars as well. Most of these bars can be found along the western end of Loi Kroh road along with a walk-in arcade close to the Imperial Mae Ping Hotel and the Tappae Gate.

Chiang Mai also has its share of good clean fun. There are multiplex cinemas found in the Kad Suan Kaew mall, also called as the Central and Airort Plaza. Both of these show movies with English soundtrack. There is an ice-skating rink and bowling alley in the Central. The Irish Pub houses a Karting track and mini golf. The Writers Club and Wine Bar is the meeting place for writers who congregate on Friday nights.
